A solar-powered light-emitting diode (LED) can be used to help provide emergency lighting for emergency workers in India.
The LED lighting uses ultraviolet rays to light up a room or building, to provide illumination to the occupants, and to provide a backup source of light during emergencies.
In India, the use of emergency lighting has increased dramatically in the last few years, and this is due to the introduction of LED lighting in the construction sector.
A team of researchers from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bengaluru, led by Rishi Kumar, has recently been working with the LED lighting company LEDs in India to develop a system to provide emergency illumination in a residential building using LEDs.
The LED lighting system is expected to be ready for commercial trials by 2020.
