The National Hurricane Center in Miami says it is forecasting the first of the year’s four major hurricanes will hit the Gulf Coast.
The NHC is predicting three hurricanes will form over the Gulf, including a Category 3 hurricane near the Florida coast, which could cause damage in the U.S. and Canada.
The U.K. will also have its first hurricane of the season, the NSPCC said, adding that a tropical depression is possible along the east coast of England.
The National Weather Service said Hurricane Jose, which is forecast to move through the central Caribbean and land in the Bahamas on Thursday, will likely strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane on Friday.
Jose could bring heavy rainfall and tropical storm force winds to the Florida Keys.
